Located in the Upstate of South Carolina, about half way between Atlanta and Charlotte, Greenville SC is a rapidly growing southern city which has maintained its “small town” feel and southern charm.

There are countless reasons why Greenville is repeatedly recognized as a best place to live. This dynamic and diverse community has a long tradition of southern hospitality, and a commitment of intentional and progressive growth. Greenville continues to attract new businesses and citizens and has received numerous awards for the quality of life and opportunities available to both visitors and its citizens.

The falls that once powered the textile industry that fueled Greenville’s growth in the 19th and 20 th centuries and were the first site of the city of Greenville, now powers a vibrant tourism industry. Greenville has been a great place for professionals and entrepreneurs since the beginning. After being settled by the Cherokee Indians, the first European settler was Richard Pearis in the late 1700s. Paris mountain – which offers instant mountain hikes right in town – is named after him. Today the fast-growing economy and increasing diversity of industries make Greenville one of the most highly sought-after cities in the Southeast.

Greenville has become famous for its tree-lined downtown sidewalks. Stroll along them and you’ll find everything from outdoor shops to boutiques to a unique toy-shop that focuses on the toys big-box sellers don’t have. Both adventurous and traditional palettes will be satisfied with ethnic foods including Persian, Jamaican, Japanese and Afghan to Southern favorites and signature burgers.

The arts are alive and well in Greenville. Theaters downtown offer traditional, youth, and outside-of-the box performances of acclaimed new plays and old favorites. National comedians, improv groups, spoken word performers, poets, and novelists regularly appear at venues and shops. And you won’t have to wait long for a street festival to appear to showcase the very best of visual arts, music, and food from the region and around the country.

Beyond downtown, the area boasts a number of dance schools for youth and adults. The Bob Jones University Art Gallery has European master works from the 14th through 19th centuries in a collection revered worldwide.

Greenville is the place for sports enthusiasts of all stripes as well. The area has become a cycling mecca due in part to the influence of former Tour de France cyclist George Hincapie, and to the varying, challenging, and sometimes breathtaking landscape that only the Carolina Foothills cycling can provide. Cyclists, runners, and leisurely strollers all enjoy the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail, which runs 21 miles from Travelers Rest to Fountain Inn. Golfers enjoy a number of courses at clubs and private neighborhoods.

A diversity of neighborhoods make Greenville SC a good place to live. There is something for anyone from first time homebuyers to families and retirees looking for the next good place to live.
